Sparklers at Work
Here is the one who first caused the Sparkle!!
I bet you are wondering why the Sunday School at Park Grove is named 'Sparklers'.
A few years ago the Sunday School Superintendent at that time did a demonstration
in Chapel using Sparklers. This was a lovely means of getting the particular message
across, until disaster struck!! You may have already guessed-the fire alarms went
off and what a noise! We opened the doors and the noise still went on and on! The
children started laughing and then the whole congregation were laughing and the noise
still went on!
Ever since then we thought that we should re-name our Sunday School-
The Sunday Sparklers.
We have an enthusiastic and jolly group of teachers who are
very keen to make Sunday mornings enjoyable and at the same time educational for
the Children. We try to follow the Lectionary at the children's level and combine
this with plenty of activities to keep it fun and not too heavy for them. At Christmas
we do the traditional Nativity or something similar and always have a Party where
the children let off steam and eat lots of food.
At the end of the Summer term we have our annual outing, inviting all parents and
grandparents. We have been to Levens Hall at Garforth near Leeds, Tropical World
at Leeds, and last year we had such a good time at Newby Hall Near Ripon that we
are going again this year. We look forward to new faces joining us, so why not bring
your kids one Sunday morning (10.45 till 11.45), we think they will enjoy it and
will want to come again.
