Infant Feeding (17 March) continued

The infant feeding programme is aimed at helping mothers in taking good care of their babies, promoting healthy growth patterns. Now by monitoring the babies weight we will be able to track how the baby is progressing avoiding severe malnutrition. We hope to teach these mothers how to set up City Nutritional Gardens (CNG’s). CNG’s use principles from Foundations for Farming.

Medical Outreach (26 March)

We hosted another successful outreach clinic on the 26th March, the doctors attended to 99 patients in 2 and a half hours.

Challenges

We have been faced with a number of challenges over the past month, on the day of the clinic no one had opened the premises for us so we had to use one very dirty room and a gazebo for consultations and patient screening.

We have been trying to meet with the community leaders in the past 3 weeks without success. This has been a bit disappointing but we are working on having the meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to carry out a quarterly evaluation and to submit the programme plan for the next 3 months. The major challenge has been communication between the project team and the community leaders. The clinic started late because the community members did not know that it was taking place. We had to cancel Kids Club on the 22nd March and a Family service on the 27th March because of heavy rains since we currently do most of the project activities in the open air.
