A Yorkshire Evening for Boystown

18 July 2008
Yorkshire puddings filled with delight and much - much more! As part of Park Grove's commitment to supporting Alan Colebrook's fund raising for BOYSTOWN, we gathered at the church for an evening of entertainment and feasting.
The evening began with 'SIDE BY SIDE' a concert party who entertained us with songs and repartee of earlier times.
These included the tale of Pretty Polly Perkins, who turned down offers of marriage to a 'broken hearted milkman' and ended up married to a 'bow legged conductor of a two-penny bus' and also the graphic description of how Albert Ramsbottom foiled the ghost of the headsman at the Tower of London.
The entertainment closed with a lightening visit by Eleanor ???? who sang delightful pieces by various composers including Lloyd Webber, Fauré and German
Thoroughly entertained we then moved to the Sunday School Hall where we were fed on Yorkshire Puddings filled with meat, sausage or braised vegetables, followed by (Yorkshire?) apple pie or Yorkshire curd tart with cream or ice cream.
All in all it was a very pleasant evening of fun, food and fellowship.
Thanks to Alan Colebrook for organising this event and good luck with his efforts in fundraising for BOYSTOWN.
